lyrics

I'm terrified of Tokyo, not that I've ever been
Something bout the blinding light and people packed like tuna in a tin
When the sun goes down the race it doesn't quit,
Its all a master craft machine of cogs, a city like a clock that never stops its tick

Walking up a woodland trail, roadside's distant noise sustains
Music from a motor and it's spinning wheels,
"they should put a bench up here don't you agree
So we can sit and think", not that it would do us good
Every time we talk our brains begin to sink

Herons dancing miles above our heads
Waiting for it's prey to wilt away
Willow trees in solemn dress
Kris crossed on the grass
The weather turning, lurching back
Daylight cresting dark

I'm terrified of Sitting still, the life that it contains
Friendships borrowed like a pack of playing cards, handed back with folds and stains
A king misplaced, though they never seemed to mind. We stayed up late
To watch the day and night collide, the past and future intertwined

I've done my share of awful things, few that I'll admit
But I like to think I've learned a thing or two on the face of it
Scabs will heal, like all ordeals, unless you keep on picking till they bleed
Or you'll live each day suffering yourself the only one to blame

Herons dancing miles above our heads
Waiting for it's prey to wilt away
Willow trees in solemn dress
Kris crossed on the grass
Numbered days to disembark
Daylight cresting dark
