Transient and Colourful

Fragile was the snow when winter fell
Summer like a distant dream again
We'd waded through the fall to find ourselves
This empty winter canvas ours to fill
I wandered through the trees all draped in white
Kneeling to the sky, it's gift of life
No sun, no moon, no stars, just blinding blue
The ocean of the sky is frozen too
He spoke to me, In silver tongues
These words
Covered in Blue
Spring grew down the hills with yellow skin
A bitterness had sewn it's sees within
In the melting snow his heart went black
Regret became of life no turning back
We sank below, I grasped
Those words
Covered in Blue

July in March

I went to see a friend,
a distraction
A warm cup of tea with a smile
growing cold in my grasp
We brought with us a company
like no other, a fool for hire
unique in his sorrow
unique to my eyes
And you, lost your world
To serve something more than yourself
Forgotten like a winter
just a cold snap with a whimper
in a few months
he’ll be summer
Hurry to the ending
The last page with a twist plot
and you see
a father, a son, a brother
Weightless drifting below the world
Chancing a sight at God
Manic to prove the son he was
he sings a song, floating about the room
Stuck to the sky, is a portrait of the moon
Ageless in tandem
with a die cast and a saint sinned
there’s your prophet
blood stains his hands
I’m dazed but remembered
just a word count filed far down
in your memory
A slumbered vision now
And you, lost a friend
To serve something more than yourself

Wait, for the snow to fall
Till the trees lay bare
And those blue green eyes
Can see the beauty, in it all
When I was born,
The sun it shone, from hill to hill.
The fields were full of ripened crops
Golden locks, where we would rest
The seas were filled with tears of joy
No sword in hand
There was pain then
But it was pure and innocent
We reached up high to touch the sky
Set our sights on more than life
But we were wrong, and we lost it all
We were wrong
Wait, for the snow to fall
Till the trees lay bare
And those blue green eyes
Can see the beauty, in it all
